DESCRIPTION
A new home, a mysterious disappearance, and a cat who may not be ready to be forgotten. In Licorice, award-winning author Kara LaReau delivers a delightfully spooky and heartfelt mystery about friendship, belonging, and finding your place in the world.
After surviving a frightening experience in the woods, a young tabby cat named Kitty finds herself at the Mount Charles Animal Shelter. When a kind boy named Max adopts her, Kitty hopes she has finally found a safe and loving home. But something strange is waiting at 5 Manderley Road.
Every corner of the house seems to carry the scent of Licorice, Max's beloved former cat. Even Duchess, the family's elderly parrot, reminds Kitty that she is only a replacement. As Kitty struggles to feel welcome, she begins to wonder whether Licorice's presence is more than just a memory. Could the missing cat still be haunting the house?
Inspired by Daphne du Maurier's classic novel Rebecca, this atmospheric middle-grade story blends gentle chills, humor, mystery, and emotional depth. With illustrations by Kelly Murphy, Licorice is an engaging choice for young readers who love cats, ghost stories, and mysteries with heart.

happy customers
"Love the rotating seasonal items and the consistent supply of specialty office supplies!! Jerrol's makes it fun to pick up page protectors-- if I happen to also purchase a chicken-shaped mug or gorgeous wildflower apron while I'm there as well, that's just a happy accident lol :)"
"In one quick visit, I was able to get help finding art supplies for a new project as well as order some new release books for my daughters for Christmas. It’s great to have a small business in town that can do all that!"
"What a fun quirky place. Art supplies, RC cars, and puzzles, yep! Need a coffee while browsing the vintage clothing, sure! Office furniture, yep! Need some university gear, they have that too! Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area."
“I came in for something specific and left with exactly what I needed. The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.”
