Student Living on the Cheap
Posted by ROLF WILLIAMS
It’s no secret that college is EXPENSIVE! Every penny counts, so we thought we’d round up a few cost saving ideas to help you stretch your dollar. When I was a college student, my favorite hack was “shopping in my parent’s pantry” when I’d come home on breaks. It worked pretty well, but driving two hours home wasn’t convenient! So, if that method isn’t an option for you, here are some discounts we rounded up.
First off, did you know that Utopia Frozen Yogurt and Coffee House offers a 20% off discount on frozen yogurt to CWU students? It’s conveniently located right across the street from campus and is a great study spot. Wildcat Bucks are for anyone with a valid Connection Card. You can add money any time, there are no fees, it never expires, and it is refundable. What’s great about using Wildcat Bucks is that you save 10% and pay no sales tax when buying food, espresso, or market items on campus. Also, Wildcat Bucks can be used at the Wildcat Shop and even some off-campus spots like these:
- 18th St. Deli
- McDonald’s
- Rite-Aid
- Subway
- 509 Philly Stop
- Island Fusion
Being a college student comes with subscription discounts too. You can get Microsoft Office 365 (which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Teams) for free with your school email address. And did you know you can get a Spotify subscription for nearly half-off when you’re a student? That’s $5.99 a month, compared to the $10.99 a month for everyone else.
When you come shop at Jerrol’s, don’t forget to sign up for our Royalty Rewards program. It’s free to join and we’ll send you $10 off coupons in the mail! We hope this helps and that you have an amazing year that doesn’t break the bank!
